T-shirts from Skreened!

As if you need more incentive to come to BaconCamp this Saturday, don't forget that Skreened has graciously donated a couple of bacontacular shirts. Show up to try to win these as raffle prizes! You can always order more here!

BaconCamp is almost here!

It's a Bacon Apple Pie! Can you handle it?!

BaconCamp Columbus is nearly upon us! You can almost smell the bacon wafting in the area.

Join Wild Goose Creative this Saturday, August 1st, from 1-4 p.m. at our space for the Columbus edition of BaconCamp. This is a national event that celebrates everything bacon-related, and Wild Goose Creative has the privilege of playing Columbus host.

Here's a taste of our lineup:

BACON FOOD: We'll have bacon goodies from a diverse range of local foodies, plus some experts such as folks from The Hills Market, Sassafras Bakery, and Zach Briggs of the Columbus Foodcast. Some of the dishes will include bacon-wrapped pickles, bacon ice cream, bacon mustard, bacon apple pie (see above!), and word around the skillet is that the folks from Bacon Salt have donated to the cause.

BACON ARTS & CRAFTS: Local crafters are mobilizing to capture the spirit of bacon in arts and crafts. From what we've heard of the entries, we have a knitted bacon scarf, bacon roses, bacon letter press, bacon photography, and bacon jewelry.

BACON EXPERTS: The food and the crafts will be judged by a distinguished panel, including:

Patrick Crawford of Spindle Studios

Liz Lessner of Dirty Franks, Betty's, and more

Jim Ellison of CMH Gourmand

Chris Dillman of Rosendale's

Olivia Bratitch of Wholly Craft!

We'll start right at 1 with some bacon slam poetry, then the foodies and crafters will present their work, and the judges will judge. The cover is only $5, and you'll get to enjoy all sorts of food and drink samples. The first 50 people in the door get a hand-made bacon pin.

Open Hours at Wild Goose Creative!

We're pleased to announce that Wild Goose Creative will be open during the day for you to stop by, look at the artwork on our gallery wall, or even work on a project! Come by:
Monday through Thursday between 2 and 5 pm.
At least one of us will be here, usually working on something creative. We have lots of tables, access to the internet, big windows if you need natural light, and plenty of power. We can make coffee if you like. If you have an inkling to work somewhere that's not quite as solitary as home or studio but not quite as bustling as a coffeeshop, this might be the place for you!

Call for Festival Presenters!

Wild Goose Creative is looking for creative folks to propose and present workshops for our third annual New Year’s Festival. Interested? Submit a workshop proposal on something you love or are passionate about! See below for details:

This year’s New Year’s Festival will start on December 31, kicking off with a New Year’s Eve party, and will continue through January 3. NYF09 will feature a gallery exhibition, concerts, live original performances, workshops, opportunities to create, and food from many of Columbus’s best culinary artists. The New Year’s Festival draws a broad audience; children, students, seniors, families, artists, and creative people from greater Columbus attend. We even draw from a loyal but far-flung following who travel to Columbus for the Festival.

In the past, New Year’s Festival workshops have run the gamut from songwriting to screenprinting to sushi making to swing dancing. Workshop slots will typically be between an hour and an hour and a half, and audiences are likely to range from between 10 and 30. Wild Goose Creative is seeking grant money to provide stipends to workshop presenters, as well as funds for any needed supplies. Our past presenters have used the Festival as an opportunity to sharpen their presentation skills, teach and meet others with similar interests, and to promote their businesses and passions!

If you would like to participate, we want to hear from you! Please email jessie at wildgoosecreative dot com NO LATER THAN September 10 with responses to the following questions:

1. What would be the content of your workshop? Sum up the activities and the aims of the workshop in a few sentences.
2. Would your workshop be a demonstration, a presentation, an interactive exercise-based workshop, a tasting, a make-and-take, or something else?
3. Why would someone want to come to your workshop?
4. Who would be the audience(s) for your workshop?
5.. Are there any dates during the New Year’s Festival you are NOT available to participate?

Feel free to distribute this call for participants to anyone you think might be interested. Thank you!

Then on Friday we were joined for WGC Presents by the Alwood Sisters and Rachel Zylstra, for a fantastic night complete with snapping, hot dogs, and everything else you could ask for in a concert.

Here Rachel plays her song "Where Was Your Head?" as the audience snaps along.
